GOLD AT DOMAINE LA YOLE

The 21st annual contest for the Independent Winemakers of France, which took place in March 2010 in Colmar, once more honoured Le Domaine La Yole with the Gold Medal for their vintage 2008 range 1771 red and white wine. They were also awarded the Bronze Medal for their exceptional new 'cru', Quintessence, which will be available in the shop from June onwards.

The 1771 range has received a mention in the 2010 edition of the Gilbert et Gaillard Wine Guide (1771 White 2007 and 1771 Red 2006)

1771 white, a Chardonnary matured for six months in oak barrels develops a floral bouquet with a hint of liquorice and white fruits. The perfect accompaniment for a Bouillabaisse, fish, fois gras, or even cheese such as pélardon of mild chevre (goats cheese) served with a trickle of honey.

1771 Red, a mix of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for thirteen months in oak barrels, develops an elegant, rich bouquet of blackberry jam, Mocca, Cocoa and white pepper. The perfect accompaniment for rib of beef, fillet steak with mushrooms, sea bream in a salt crust, or even a Cantal cheese.

Quintessence is a mix of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured in oak barrels, it is the Domain's newest creation and will be unveiled at the beginning of summer. Those privileged to have tasted this wine during the Concours des Vignerons Indépendants de France, agreed that Quintessence was the perfect name.

Sensations white and red, the new range of sparkling wines from La Yole, available since the beginning of spring 2010, saw the start of an important year for the Domaine. Combined with the success of Quintessence, confirmation that this will be the year of grand creations for Le Domaine La Yole.
